Coffee & Bagels

This is my first ever review of a restaurant, and I am taking the time to write this down because it is somewhat important to me. I have just one major issue with this place—more specifically, one person. One of the waiters at this restaurant is extremely rude. Just this one person, because everyone else is very professional and friendly. But this one waiter makes me wonder why the restaurant continues to keep him. I am sure I am not the only one who has noticed this. I have dealt with him on more than six different occasions in a span of two months. Of course, I understand that service workers are human too, and being moody or rude can happen because of personal issues. But in this case, after six different encounters, I’ve noticed that it keeps getting worse rather than better. Here are some reasons why I feel this way: • Ignorant and unable (or unwilling) to attend to customers—I believe intentionally. • Straight-up rude and disrespectful. When I say rude, I mean he talks to customers in an unprofessional manner. I have also heard from friends and others who had the same experience. Once, I overheard a customer ask why his espresso shot took 30 minutes, and the waiter simply replied, “I am very busy, just wait.” That customer walked out. • He tends to argue with people. For example, my friend was told her food would take 40 minutes, which is understandable for the menu. However, her husband got his food, and after one hour she still hadn’t received hers. When she asked, his response was, “If I take your order, food will be out in 40 minutes.” • He places water glasses and plates as if he’s throwing them at you. • Whenever you call him for assistance, he looks and talks to you like he absolutely hates his job. • On one occasion, I asked for the bill four times, but he never brought it. After waiting 20 minutes, I just walked to the counter to pay. I really hope the management (or whoever reads this review) takes this into consideration and gets him to treat people properly—or replaces him. When you pay prices higher than most restaurants, you at least expect decent service. That being said, I want to emphasize that all the other staff are very friendly and kind. They always greet customers and are very attentive. I really hope this one issue is fixed, because this restaurant is one of my favorites in the Malé–Hulhumalé region. Even with this service issue, I still go there because the food is outstanding—I can easily compare it to a proper 5-star restaurant. I’ve tried many different dishes from the menu, and I’ve never been disappointed. Whatever the chef is doing, he’s doing an amazing job. The restaurant is also in a great location, cozy, and has a good aesthetic. The salmon bagel has to be my favorite in this area. The ingredients used are clearly high quality, and the food always leaves me satisfied. The drinks are also very good. For me, the price is very reasonable for what you get. This place could easily be a 10/10 restaurant if not for this one waiter. Unfortunately, every time I interact with him, it makes me like the place less. I’m not asking for 5-star or fine-dining service here—just some basic decency. That’s all. I hope to see this improve, because this really is a good restaurant with GREAT FOOD

If you're looking for a cozy, delicious, and satisfying breakfast with a stunning ocean view, this cafeteria is a must-visit! Clean and inviting environment, friendly and efficient service. Freshly baked, warm croissants - flaky, buttery perfection paired with homemade jams (just the right amount of sweetness, not overpowering). I also loved their bagels, which were soft yet perfectly chewy. Everything tasted fresh, good-quality, and made with care. I’ll definitely be back!

We had the chicken-infused pasta, Arabian rice, chicken Caesar salad, and cheese pasta, along with two matchas 🫶 and everything was absolutely delicious. The pastas tasted just like the ones I’ve had in Italy, rich in flavor and perfectly cooked. The restaurant is located right in front of the beach, surrounded by lush greenery, creating a calm and scenic atmosphere. The place is beautifully designed, very clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive — constantly checking in and going the extra mile to ensure a great experience. I absolutely loved everything about this place. The chicken Caesar salad was the best I’ve ever had. Without a doubt, this is the best restaurant in both Malé and Hulhumale.
