The commercial heart of the Maldives
Malé is the capital and the single largest supplier market in the Maldives. Nearly every wholesale importer, hardware specialist, F&B distributor, furniture retailer, and industrial supplier in the country operates from Malé — most concentrated on Chaandhanee Magu, Majeedhee Magu, Ameer Ahmed Magu, and Boduthakurufaanu Magu. If you're sourcing for a business anywhere in the country, Malé is almost always where the supplier stack starts.
Long-form guides to help you source in Malé.
Chaandhanee Magu and Majeedhee Magu are the two biggest commercial streets — between them they cover furniture, hardware, F&B, electronics, and general wholesale. Boduthakurufaanu Magu along the waterfront is the third key street, anchored by public markets and large retailers.
Most of the larger wholesalers — BBM, Fantasy, Lily International, UFS, Champa, Damas — handle Hulhumalé delivery daily and outer-atoll sea-freight on a weekly schedule. Smaller shops usually require pickup or customer-arranged freight.
Sunday through Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM, is the standard operating window. Friday is a half-day for most businesses, and Saturday is closed or reduced hours. Always call ahead if you're planning a Friday visit.
